World cup footy

Mom and dad (especially dad) are really excited right now, since it’s what they call The World Cup. I’m not 100% sure what it means, but I do know that right now, it means footy everyday! And I know that that makes dad really happy. I can’t wait until I come out so I can see what World Cup and footy are really all about. I think that footy must involve kicking, though, since every time I kick my feet around in here, mom says that she thinks I’m going to be a footy player. I’m really hoping that I like it as much as dad does–it will give us something to do together!

This weekend, mom told me that we were going to watch our first England match. England is where dad is from, so that’s the team that we want to win in the World Cup. During the match, I couldn’t see what was going on, but I can tell you one thing–it sure was noisy! I could hear every time a goal was scored for both teams. But, it definitely was much louder in there when England scored than when the other team did. Luckily, I wasn’t sleepy during the game, since I had a nap on the subway ride there (subway rides always made me sleepy). With all that noise, there is no way I would have been able to sleep!

After the noise quieted down, mom and dad were talking about how upset they were that England lost the game. But, they also said that the next game should be better. I’m not sure when it is, but at least this time I know what to expect!

I don’t know for sure, but I think that when I’m out that I will cheer for England, too. But, after the last game, dad warned me that I should get used to disappointment of being an England fan. So, maybe I should reconsider?
